Only after a short time after release and Google's latest and greatest device is receiving its first ota update. The Google chromecast hdmi dongle is getting an ota update that will supposedly fix some bugs. According to Ambaresh Kenghe, Chromecast product manager, "the update will roll out over the next few days and will happen automatically; users do not need to take any action."
A bit of warning, this update supposedly will patch the latest exploit that allowed the dongle to be rooted. Although there probably is nothing most people can do to stop the update. But most people will not root this device as it already offers many advantages without root.
It's good to see an update this fast as it probably means things are moving pretty quickly to offer even more options and features that will make this $35 device feel more like a $99 device.
For those that already have it, it's a welcomed update as some were reporting glitches with some phones.
